Types Of Braces

Traditional Metal Braces
These are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. Made of the highest grades of stainless steel we will uses these brackets in combination with metal archwires to straighten your teeth and provide that smile you have been dreaming of! With some types of metal braces you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile.

Self-Ligating Braces
Made of similar materials as traditional braces but do not require the use of elastics to secure the archwire in place. This means less friction being placed on the tooth that allows fewer appointments. These braces can be made from metal, ceramic, or clear materials. They are the same size as traditional braces, but they use a specialized clip to hold the archwire in place.

Clear (Ceramic) Braces
Clear braces are the same as traditional metal braces except that they are clear. Clear braces are a less noticeable alternative to traditional metal braces and provide patients with an equally effective treatment. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as they tend to be more brittle than their metal counterparts and can stain. The clear elastics used may become slightly discolored when you drink pigmented fluids like tea, coffee, or wine, and eat certain foods or smoke. Because they are more brittle, they tend to be used more on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.

Clear Aligners
Clear aligners are quickly taking the orthodontic market by storm. Clear aligners are a series of clear, removable, and comfortable plastic trays that straighten your teeth like braces. With each progressive tray your teeth are gently moved further towards your ultimate goal. Since they are removable this allows you to eat and drink what you wish while in treatment simply by removing the trays. An added bonus is the ease of which you can still brush and floss your teeth during treatment. Using clear aligners for orthodontic treatment is not for everyone. The best way to find out if clear aligners are the right option for you is to schedule a consultation!
